Spotkania z expatrami część druga/ Expat meet-up vol.2

Drugie podejście do spotkania dla expatów. Tak jak pisałam, ostatnie spotkanie rozkręciło się w drugiej części, więc razem z Iloną i Ivą postanowiłyśmy w ten czwartek zobaczyć, czy może tym razem będzie fajnie, a co najmniej spoko. Spotkanie zaczęło się o 19, ale my się umówiłyśmy dopiero na 21, bo ostatnio początek imprezy był dość drętwy. Iva miała dojechać spóźniona, bo grała w badmintona w parku. Znalezienie miejsca spotkanie w labiryncie małych nieoznaczonych uliczek na Lipscani było niemałym wyzwaniem. Jak już w końcy znalazłyśmy to wymieniłyśmy znaczące spojrzenia z Iloną i przemknęłyśmy obok niezauważone. Skład (30 kobiet rumuńskich i 5 facetów) nie zachęcało jakoś do integracji, więc postanowiłyśmy poczekać na Ivę i zdecydować, co robimy. Powtórzyłyśmy potem manewr przemknięcia cichaczem i poszłyśmy do innego ogródka barowego, z którego miałyśmy widok na expatów. Po 2 piwkach (2 winach, w przypadku Ilony) zobaczyłyśmy, że wszyscy się zmywają. Została tylko rumuńska repatriatka, 2 Tudorów (jeden kilka lat w LA, drugi w Kanadzie) oraz na chwilę pojawił się Cosmin (spędził jakiś czas w Dubaju). Posiedziałyśmy z nimi, pogadałyśmy (głównie to Iva gadała i namawiała na zorganizowanie jakiś wycieczek poza Bukareszt i pytała, gdzie można kupić opony zimowe- co jest odpowiednim tematem do rozmowy w upalny letni wieczór :P ) Nasza obecność zasłużyła na wzmiankę na blogu expatów, zresztą cały post zatytułowany był „masowa obecność Europy Wschodniej”.

Do domu wróciłam o 1.30 w nocy, więc ranne wstawanie było wyzwaniem. Ale na jakiś czas koniec ze spotkaniami expatów, bo Ilona jedzie do domu na weekend, potem jestem na wakacjach.


As the last time the expat meet-up got more interesting with time, we decided to give it another shot and went this Thursday to Lipscani to meet some foreigners living in Bucuresti. As Tudor, the organizer stated later on their meet-up group’s wall there were “ attendees: roughly 30 , in 3 successive waves. 3 continents were present, with massive East-European presence appeared later on to reinforce the meet up”. Of course the referral to massive EE presence is about us (Iva, Ilona and me).

We decided to show up later since the last time the beginning of the reunion was kind of akward, as we were the only new attendees. I met with Ilona at 9 pm and we waited for Iva, who was playing badminton in a park. We hadn’t seen each other for some time, so we decided that first we would go to some bar and just talk and later we would join the expats. We chose the bar not neer from the expat meeting so that we could observe them and decide when it was the besttime to go to them. As we were „intimidated” by the Romanian women dominance over expats. Then when almost everybody went we met with those who stayed. As it is stated in the report after this meet-up „everybody left , except Tudor the organizer, L. A. Tudor , Manuela, Simona, Alina’s repat friend who speaks German, 5-second appearance Cosmin, am I missing somebody ? ) when fast-speaking, energy-debordating, accent-changing , Bratislava-born, Slovak style beer-drinking Ivana appeared , accompanied by the poles Ilona and Agnieszka. It seems that women all over the world have a common language when they need to communicate things, and it seems some of them manage a decent number of Slavic languages to confuse Tudor. Having lived in a neighborhood where 144 languages were spoken doesn’t help so much, but “ piva/pivo” sounds the same”.

As you can see the conversation was dominated by Iva, and although there were 2 Polish girls, we were just the bonus to Iva’s presence :P But it was quite an interesting evening... I got back home at 1.30 am so waking up in the morning to go to work was quite a challenge. But since now, for some time I won’t go to other expat meet-ups, as Ilona goes home for the weekend, Iva to Greece, I am on holidays afterward, I could make an exception and get home so late during the work days.
