Piknik/ Picnic

A chłopaków, no cóż…

I do not know when another week passed, it finished so quickly without me even noticing it. On Monday there was a religious holiday in Romania, but in Oracle due to the end of the fiscal year, some departments (including mine) had to come to work. Instead we got a free Friday, on the 4th of June. Nuno had a free day but I managed to convince him that it would be nice to lunch together, so he came to Oracle and we went together to the nearby restaurant during the lunch break. The next days were similar to each other, nothing interesting or particular happened.

Then came the weekend, which was quite interesting. It began on Friday with girls’ night out (girls meaning: Ilona, Iva and her sister from Slovakia and me). Nuno and Sergio had their beer in male company and we were supposed to get all together afterward. Guys were with a new Portuguese, who arrived two weeks ago, has internship at Millenium bank and would stay for four months in Bucharest.
Being with girls only was fun, but finding a free table in the Old Town took forever. It looked as if the whole Bucharest decided to go out to Lipscani. After wandering in search of a table for good half an hour, we finally succeeded and could enjoy a cold beer on a warm spring Friday evening. In general, half of the conversation was in Polish and Slovak, and some in English, as I didn’t always understand all. Iva and Viva were tired after sightseeing, so it was only me and Ilona to join guys and change the venue with them . After a short walk (as usual Polish girls way ahead, Portuguese guys following us, few meters behind), we decided to go to the bar, located on the roof of the National Theatre (student’s climate). There is an old lady that has become legendary, her duty is to operate the elevator, which means to press the button of the floor where somebody wants to go. And so she it till the club is open (3 am.), in order to not get bored (the whole night there in the end) she sews, knits or embroiders.

On Saturday, despite returning late on Friday, we didn’t stay in bed for too long. We woke up at 10.15 cause we had plans, we were going for a picnic :) Around noon we were already at Ilona’s place(her apartment had the unquestionable advantages, an oven, which works perfectly and localization, 5 minutes walking from the park). Then we went to the grocery shop to buy the necessary ingredients for 2 salty tarts. We (me and Ilona) made one tart (half with spinach and half mushrooms) and the guys made a second one. They lost control at some point and put everything they could think of on their tart ( what was left from our spinach, ham, mozzarella, mushrooms, peppers and tomatoes). After baking both tarts, our looked really nice and professionally, as if removed from the cookbook. And the boys’ one, well ... it tasted way better than it looked, but was incredibly difficult to eat it, especially in the park, on a blanket, without any plates or cutlery. After a tasty lunch,we were relaxing and enjoying nice weather, turning our faces to the sun. At some point, a husky came to our blanket, he appeared out of nowhere, and although he was wearing a collar, his owner was nowhere to be found. The dog took and took advantage of our momentary inattention and took the last piece of tart which he ate with relish. When he finished, he licked with his tongue the baking sheet. And he was so happy about this tasty snack he had.
And for dessert we had strawberries:)

We were lucky, because not even 20 minutes passed after we came back home from the park and it started raining heavily (storms in Bucharest are something normal, after a hot and stuffy day, it often rains cats and dogs in the evening, and the rain is often accompanied by thunders and lightnings). In the evening we went to dinner at home of the Portuguese. Then we watched Eurovision Song Festival (sic!), but as we were drinking sangria and then żubrówka, it was not as bad as it sounds. It turned out that not only the representative of Portugal passed through the elimination, but also the Romanian duet (well, I when I checked few days ago, when I was so bored at worked, on the official page of the contest they weren’t among the finalist, some mistake though). The Portuguese singer was far behind in the results of the voting, while the Romanians ended on the third place. Afterwards (after that strange before party), we were supposed to meet with Ilona and Slovakian girls, but at the end we decided to go home, as the weather was unpredictable.

On Sunday we managed to sleep longer and were awakened by a strong sunlight a few minutes before noon. After breakfast I went shopping with Ilona. I bought a nice dress from Reserved ((Ilona also liked it, as she I bought the same one but in a different color). And after the shopping, I watched a movie with Nuno to end a weekend in a pleasant way.

I suppose this week passes quickly as well. On Tuesday in Bucharest the general strike is planned, the subway is not working and neither are some bus lines (today teachers and administration sector was on strike), and we work from home to avoid the chaos in the city. And on Friday we have a day off.

Today I didn’t have the luck I had on Saturday and I didn’t manage to avoid the rain. It started to rain five minutes before six, so initially I decided to wait a bit, but it didn’t stop, so I had a quick sprint to the subway.

Dobrze smakuje z porami, serem pleśniowym i orzechami włoskimi i ewentualnie z dodatkiem szynki.Polecam!Przepis znajdziesz u mnie na blogu!Pozdrawiam. Bożena
